Artemus Group, co-founded by Adam Flaskas and Paul Henry, with Luke Fraser as CEO, has steadily grown its influence in the hospitality sector. Already the owner of Brisbane’s Howard Smith Wharves and most of Manly Wharf’s venues, Artemus Group’s acquisition of Hugo’s Manly solidifies its stronghold on the sought-after waterfront destination.

For Hugo’s Group – led by founders David Corsi, Dave Evans, and Daniel Vaughan – this partnership represents an opportunity to expand the brand’s horizons. The group, known for its storied history starting with Hugo’s Bondi and extending to vibrant venues like Hugo’s Lounge and Hugo’s Bar Pizza in Kings Cross, has long been a trailblazer in Australia’s hospitality scene. Hugo’s Manly, a favourite among locals and tourists alike, remains the crown jewel of their ventures.

As part of the agreement, Hugo’s Group will continue to manage the Manly venue, ensuring that its signature service and culinary excellence remain unchanged. Dave Evans, one of the group’s founders, expressed optimism about the future, noting that he and David Corsi would continue managing the restaurant daily alongside the existing team, with plans to expand the Hugo’s brand to new locations.

The collaboration between Hugo’s Group and Artemus Group opens the door for innovative projects under the Hugo’s banner. Both parties view the acquisition as a stepping stone to revitalizing and expanding the brand beyond its current footprint.

For Artemus Group, the move aligns with its broader vision for Manly Wharf. By controlling all but one of the precinct’s venues, the group aims to create a cohesive and elevated hospitality experience. Artemus co-founder Adam Flaskas highlighted the potential in Hugo’s, emphasizing the group’s commitment to supporting its growth into new ventures while preserving its unique essence.

Hugo’s Manly remains a cherished dining destination, renowned for its stunning waterfront views, impeccable service, and Italian-inspired menu. With this new partnership, diners can expect the same excellence they have come to love while looking forward to the next chapter of Hugo’s story.
